"Let's run away to the moon together," Wen Ning would tell his sister back then, under the too-hot sun of the Nightless City.

Sometimes he feels like he really did it: a silent watcher in the night, forever locked in a separate orbit from the people he loves. But sometimes Sizhui finds him, and they sit together the whole night through, telling stories no one else can tell of the warmth their family shared before they shot down the sun. And the moon is a lonely place, he thinks, but not so lonely that they can't watch the sunrise together.
