The silencing spell was not to be used lightly; this was a regular admonishment when Lan Wangji was learning it. It was to be used to maintain the serenity of the Cloud Recesses, not to salve one’s own irritation. However, these were guidelines, not actual rules.
And Wei Wuxian was the antithesis of serenity.
“Lan Zhan!” he had said, and something in Lan Wangji shifted. Other words followed, tumbling out of Wei Wuxian’s mouth in a rush, a downpour of rapid thoughts ranging from the inane to the highly suggestive. Frustrated and unsettled, Lan Wangji silenced the deluge.
Or so he thought.
The silencing spell sealed the lips, stopped words, but the voice remained unimpeded. Wei Wuxian proved himself fluent in expressing himself with tone alone. As a musician, Lan Wangji was also familiar with this language, and without the distraction of words, Wei Wuxian was communicating very clearly.
“Lan Zhan, you’re so mean. (I like it.)”
“Lan Zhan, how could you do this to me? (Do other things, too.)”
“Lan Zhan, you have to look at me! (And touch me and kiss me and…)”
The silencing spell only sealed the lips; it did nothing to the rest of the body. Wei Wuxian spoke with that, too. He lolled, he sprawled, he made it clear that restraint was not something he’d ever considered, let alone practiced. He offered his neck, his mouth, shamelessly provocative as he draped himself over Lan Wangji’s desk.
Lan Wangji had answers to all of this. Extensive, detailed answers. Answers which he could give with his hands, his lips, his cock. Answers which Wei Wuxian would not argue with. Probably. He had answers, but in the days that followed, they remained trapped behind a stone wall of silence.
He hadn’t realized the spell had a rebound.
