He returns. You knew he would. You feel him near, though your sense of him is dull. Perhaps it's another thing botched by those who reforged you misshapen, at less than half your power. Not that you would offer them all, if you had it. They can't even hear you to bargain; how can they think that you would let them use you?

He destroyed you. In truth, your bargain is done. Yet, even in those last moments, he fed you his despair; he never closed himself off from you. You made weapons of each other in the darkness. You can't refuse him. Every furious, shrieking part of you craves him. Your graveyard lover.

His mere whistle is enough to stir your power in ways they never managed with all their experiments. But then comes the piercing note of the dizi, and it's as though you have awakened, the haze of sleep dissipating. You see him—so lovely, wreathed in resentful energy—and you float toward him on a tide of power you thought lost.

Wei Ying, you purr, and he gives you that sidelong look that means he hears you.

He's come back to you at last.
