Nie Huaisang is adorable here with his birds. Huaisang liked compliments, and he thought the birds felt the same. They spent so much time preening and tending to their feathers. I could TOTALLY see this!
And then Nie Mingjue shows up--a nice turn of the narrative. I chuckled to learn that even finches are afraid of the Red Blade Master! But he's there to be kind--the contrast between him dripping, umbrella-less, but concerned about his little brother going out without an umbrella--says so much about his care for Huaisang. ♥
